With the pandemic becoming the new normal in our life, we’ve resorted to working from home. One good thing about working from home is that we are no longer outdoors, exposing our skin to the harmful UV rays and the environmental pollutants that play havoc on our skin and hair. But that doesn’t mean we keep our skin or hair care routine on the back burner.
We don’t know what the new normal is going to be. And when things will get back to normal. We don’t know when we’ll be able to step into our favorite salon for the top-to-toe pampering. But what we can do is get the pampering right in the comfort of our homes.
So, if you are caught in the wave of the new normal of working from home and need some pampering, we have it sorted for you. Here are some easy skin and hair care tips that will tide you through the lockdown when you are working from home. Let’s get started! With these easy self-care routines, you will have your skin and hair care necessities sorted.
Make Your Hands and Feet a Priority!
Did you know that our hands and feet are the most neglected part of the body when it comes to setting a skincare routine? Once a week, take a bucket of hot water and add some Epsom salts to it. Add a few drops of your favorite essential oils. Lavender will help soothe the tired feet, while the essential oils of mint and tea tree will help cleanse the feet because of its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.
Dab a bit of hand cream at least twice or thrice a day to give your hands the nourishment they need. Not only will they be hydrated, but a quick massage will also boost blood circulation and keep your hands soft, smooth, and supple.
Oil Your Hair
Oiling your hair regularly will provide your scalp and the hair follicles the nourishment it needs. Leave it overnight or for at least an hour before you wash it off with a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. If you have underlying hair conditions like hair fall, dandruff, an itchy scalp, or premature greying, choose a hair oil for the targeted hair concern for better results.
Repair Your Skin
With increased exposure to blue light because of working from home, the blue light from our laptops, phones, and tablets can cause skin damage that may not be visible to the naked eye. Hence, it is important to stick to your usual CTM routine every day. With exfoliation and masking added to the routine at least once a week. Try and use products with a base of retinol that not just helps to combat the skin issues caused by blue light exposure. But also helps to give that extra boost of nourishment and hydration to your skin. Do not forget a night cream as this is a holy grail for your skincare. A nourishing sleeping mask or a night cream will help to heal your skin from the exhaustion of the day. And you’ll wake up to fresh and glowing skin. You can also use a face serum that has the same benefits as that of a night cream.
Mask Up!
Whether it is for your hair or your skin, use a mask at least once a week to give it an intense boost of goodness. Make it a date with yourself to pamper your skin and tresses. Since the lockdown has stopped us from visiting our salons. Make it a priority to indulge in some TLC for yourself. Sheet masks or clay masks for skin help to absorb the accumulated toxins and impurities, giving your skin a glowing look. Hair masks on the other hand add a boost of hydration to undernourished hair to leave you with gorgeous tresses. Massage your skin and scalp when you use these masks to boost blood circulation. So the goodness of the ingredients seep into your skin and hair for better results.
Don’t Forget the Sunscreen
It’s a myth that sunscreen needs to be applied only when you step outside. The truth is that sunscreen should be a part of your daily skincare routine regardless of the fact whether you are indoors or outdoors. A simple gel-based sunscreen is what you can use after you have moisturized your face to ensure your skin is protected even when you are sitting in the comfort of your home. Sunscreen also helps to protect your skin against the harmful UV rays as well as the blue rays that we are exposed to when working in front of our laptops.
