How do you apply sunscreen to a baby?
Applying sunscreen on your baby is a task that demands patience and utmost care as their skin is very delicate. Take out a coin-sized amount of the sunscreen and apply a thick layer on your baby’s face and body. Gently rub the sunscreen with your fingers in a circular motion. Gently massage it until the skin fully absorbs it. Pay attention to the baby’s nose and ears, and be careful about the areas around the eyes.
How do you remove sunscreen from a baby’s face?
If you want to remove sunscreen from your baby’s face, use an oil or a creamy cleanser. A creamy cleanser can help remove the product buildup without disrupting the skin’s pH levels. To use it, take a generous amount of cleanser in your hand and gently wash off their face, rinsing off with normal water. You can double cleanse if the product is not washed off the first time.
When should I put sunscreen on my baby?
Babies younger than six months should be kept out of the sunlight between 10 am and 2 pm. However, preventive measures such as applying sunscreen or wearing hats and protective clothing are highly recommended if you need to be outside in the sun during those times. If your baby has any specific condition, ask your pediatrician about when the right time is to introduce sunscreen to their skincare.
What is the safest sunscreen for babies?
A sunscreen that gives your baby broad-spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays and is made with natural ingredients is considered the safest. Mineral sunscreens are less likely to cause or flare eczema, so they are safe for sensitive or irritated skin. If you’re looking for the safest sunscreen for your baby, we recommend you try Mamaearth Mineral-Based Sunscreen. It has Zinc Oxide, Shea Butter, Aloe Vera, and Cocoa Butter for maximum protection against damaging UV rays. Cocoa and Shea Butter moisturize your little one’s skin, while Aloe Vera extracts help soothe the skin. Holding a MadeSafe Certified certification means it is entirely free from Petroleum, Mineral Oil, Alcohol, Artificial Fragrance, SLS, and Artificial Preservatives.
How can I protect my baby from the sun?
Based on your local area's daily sun protection times, babies and kids need sun protection whenever UV Index levels reach three or above. Cover as much of your baby’s skin as possible with protective clothing. Pediatricians also recommend wearing sunscreen for babies over six months before stepping outside in the sun and reapplying every 2 hours. However, we recommend choosing a mineral-based sunscreen for your baby’s sensitive skin. For instance, you may try Mamaearth Mineral Based Sunscreen, which provides your baby with broad spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays and is MadeSafe Certified too!
