A wise person once said: “Your skin routine is a bank account. Invest wisely.” This is the first thing to remember before you start out on any skincare regimen. Choosing the right products is crucial, and for this, you first need to identify your skin type, whether it is dry, oily, normal, combination, or sensitive.
Even if you aren’t genetically blessed with great skin, you can still get the skin of your dreams through a dedicated skincare regimen. And it doesn’t even have to be complicated or expensive – in fact, the simpler the solution, the more effective it is! In one of our earlier posts, we talked in great detail about the AM and PM routine that needs to be followed daily for glowing skin. But there is more to getting glowing skin. What you also need is a weekly and monthly skincare routine that will further boost your skin nourishment.
Setting your weekly routine
Your weekly skincare routine will be that “extra” pampering for your skin. Of course, you’ll include a regime that is apt for the weekly nourishment of your skin. These steps should include a deep cleansing with a mild scrub to dislodge the clogged pores and remove the accumulated dirt and grime caused by daily exposure to environmental pollutants and harmful UV rays.
Let’s take a look at what should be a part of this routine.
Exfoliation
Our skin has a natural cycle of getting rid of the dead skin cells on the surface and pushing younger cells through so the skin looks young and glowing. However, as we age, this cycle slows down. Give it a boost by using a scrub to exfoliate the top layer of the skin once or twice a skin. Exfoliation also makes the skin more receptive to the products you apply because it opens up the pores post a scrub.
Face Pack
Once a week, give your skin some intense TLC with a face pack. Clay masks are a good option, like Multani Mitti, turmeric combined with rose water. There are many other DIY options you can try with ingredients from your kitchen, like tan removal face pack honey, milk cream, yogurt, tomato juice, turmeric, saffron, sandalwood, and coffee face pack. Leave it on for not more than 20 minutes and wash off with cool water. Pat dry and follow up with a serum or a moisturizer. If you are hard-pressed for time, use any of the highly nourishing, deep cleansing, and hydrating face packs from Mamaearth. You are bound to find one that’s apt for your skin.
Sheet Mask
Once your face is all fresh, clean, and makeup-free, it’s time to relax with a sheet mask. You can alternate with a sheet mask and a clay mask twice a month depending on your skin type. Sheet masks come in many varieties, and you can use one that is formulated for glowing skin. Leave the sheet mask on for not more than 20 minutes so your skin can soak in all the nutrients in the mask. Once you take off the mask, massage in the remaining essence so your skin doesn’t miss out on any of the good stuff.
And of course, you need to follow and adapt to some lifestyle tips that promise you good skin!
Whatever you do, remember that healthy skin cannot be achieved overnight. This regimen for glowing skin needs to be followed consistently, every day, every week, every month! While your daily routine will differ from the weekly and monthly routines, it is important to follow the regime to ensure your skin shows the desired results. Pair this regimen with a healthy lifestyle and you’re well on your way to healthy, gorgeous, glowing skin!
Tip: As a precautionary measure, we always recommend that you carry out a patch test to ensure that you are not allergic to any of the ingredients used in our products.
