It’s incredible how a dab of color on a small part of your face can make so much difference, but it does. There’s even a term for this in economics – the ‘Lipstick Effect’. It refers to women buying lipsticks as a small indulgence during tough times like recessions, economic crises – or pandemics!

Since we’re all in need of some cheer now more than ever before, it seems like a good time to get yourself a little tube of lip color. However, while you’re at it, why not get in some lip care too? This brings us to a brand-new world – of tinted lip serums!

You’re familiar with lip balms and chapsticks, which sometimes come with a little tint. The main purpose of these is to hydrate the lips and protect them during harsh weather. Lipsticks are highly pigmented and designed to offer color, but may not be exactly moisturizing. There are also other specialty products like lip serums and lip scrubs, that work for the lips in similar ways to their facial counterparts.

Why Should You Choose A Tinted Lip Serum?

A tinted lip serum is something that combines the best of all these worlds! It helps you get hydration, color, and extra nourishment, all in one little tube. Here are some reasons to choose lip serums from Mamaearth.

1. It Offers Better Penetration.

Like face serums, lip serums are more deeply absorbed into the skin. The formulation is generally thinner due to smaller molecules, due to which they can penetrate better into the skin and carry the nutrients deeper. This is why lip serums work better than lip balms for specific concerns like dryness, lack of volume, and even fine lines.

2. It Has High Pigmentation.

If you’ve used solid lipsticks, you’ll find that they don’t appear as pigmented on your lips as they do in the tube. They have a rather translucent nature, which is due to the way they are formulated. On the other hand, a tinted lip serum is highly pigmented and creates an opaque layer on your lips giving you the exact color you desire.

3. It Prevents Cracking.

This isn’t just a liquid lipstick – it’s a tinted lip serum. Most matte lipsticks dry out the skin and you have to reapply or refresh with lip balm. However, a tinted lip serum has hydration built into it, which makes sure that no matter how matte your lips are, they’ll stay hydrated and nourished all day.

4. You Don’t Need A Lip Liner.

When applying regular lipsticks, it can smear easily, which is why you need a lip liner to maintain the proper shape and to keep the pigment contained within the outline of the lips. This can be a little tricky, especially for novices. A great advantage of a tinted lip serum is that they can give you clean lines on their own, without any feathering. This saves you time, money, and mess!

5. It is Smudge-Proof.

It’s no fun when your carefully applied lip color transfers to your cup or as is the case these days, your mask! But that’s where these tinted lip serums score – they are designed so that they stay in place almost immediately after application. They don’t smudge or smear at all, which is also why they stay put within the lines.

6. It Lasts Longer.

It is a well-known fact that lipsticks in liquid formulation last longer than solid tubes, and this applies to tinted lip serums as well. This is a great lifesaver, especially if you have an all-day event or don’t want to touch up in the middle of your workday. Lip serums are also mostly waterproof, so you don’t have to worry about your beverages causing the lip color to bleed out.

7. It is Easy To Adjust.

The best part about tinted lip serums is that you can create exactly the look you want. The high pigmentation ensures that you get an all-opaque matte look on your lips, but if you want to tone it down, a little blotting with a tissue will do the trick. If you want a more dramatic look, you can add on another coat.

8. It Makes Sense Economically.

When you buy regular solid lipstick, you need to have a lip balm along with it to ensure your lips stay moisturized. A solid lipstick will also require multiple swipes to get the exact color you want. You will also need a lip liner with lipstick. A plain liquid lipstick does not have any nourishment, for which you need a lip balm again. A lip balm on its own does not ensure enough pigmentation to last all day. A tinted lip serum means that you need to buy just one product and a single swipe will do the job.

Now that you know the benefits of choosing a tinted lip serum, you’re probably wondering where you can find something like it in India. Well, we have the answer to that too!

Mamaearth has launched a range of tinted lip serums called the Mamaearth Naturally Matte Lip Serums that are designed to be your one-stop-shop for color, care, and convenience. It gives a beautiful matte finish and contains nourishing ingredients like Vitamins C and E. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that reduces pigmentation and brightens lips. Vitamin E is an incredible moisturizer and prevents any kind of chapping or damage.

The Mamaearth Naturally Matte Lip Serums are heavily pigmented, and the pigmentation is from natural ingredients. It promises hydration up to 8 hours and color that lasts for 12 hours. The lip serums are completely vegan and chemical-free and have not been tested on animals. They are available in 8 shades for every mood and every skin tone – Rosy Nude, Candylicious Nude, Beet It Red, Chocolate Truffle, Caramel Nude, Berrydict Magenta, Chirpy Cherry, and Pink Daffodil.

How To Apply The Lip Serums?

Step 1: Use the brush of the tinted lip serum to apply it to the outer corners of the lower lip. Then move inwards and fill up the lower lip.

Step 2: Press your lips together to even out the color and transfer some of the colors to the upper lip.

Step 3: For the upper lip, start by lining your cupid’s bow – the curved area in the middle of the upper lip. If you want this area to be more prominent, you can apply a little highlighter here.

Step 4: Fill in the rest of the upper lip. Press your lips together again.

Step 5: If you want to tone down the color, place tissue paper over your lips and wrap it around to take some of the pigment off.

Since these lip colors are quickly absorbed, any mistakes need to be corrected right away. You can do this by using a cotton swab dipped in cold cream to lift any excess color. Due to this same reason, removing the color at the end of the day will require a proper makeup remover and not just water. Try out the Mamaearth Micellar Water Foaming Makeup Remover to get rid of the product from all the folds and crevices of the lips.
